A Philanthropic Society

Established in 1997, with the aim to help poor and destitute in their need of medical help, irrespective of their caste and creed, the Society’s first ward was a TB patient at Mata Kaulan Hospital. The Society provided the necessary medical aid, but the patient did not survive. But this experience strengthened the resolve of a few committed people, the founders of the Society, to carry on this selfless, humanitarian work and the Society was born.

Starting with one patient at one hospital, the Society now has, with the generous help of its members and general public. A full Fledged Allopathic Hospital: Bhai Ghanyia Ji Sajan Sarswati Mission Hospital, (BGSSM) at Guru Gobind Singh Nagar. In Allopathic Hospital With full facilities such as Dental care, Lab at New pawan Nagar.

Medical facilities available at:

  • Maqbool Pura (Allopathic Dispensary)
  • Mohan Nagar (Homeopathic Dispensary)
  • A Physiotherapy centre at BGSSM Hospital
  • Sujok & Acupreasure Centre
  • Bhai Surat Singh (Puran Ji) Cancer Care unit
  • S. Basant Singh Hanspal Eye care Centre
  • Blood and Eye donatio council
  • An Ambulance-cum-dead body van
  • A Mobile Dispensary Van fully equipped with laboratory
All of these units are located in the poorest part of the town.

In addition to its hospitals and dispensaries, the society regularly hold Eye and Medical camps, where the thousands of patients get free medical check-up and are provided free medicine. Where needed operational procedures to restore their eye sight are performed. Innumerable patients get their eye sight restored so that they can become independent and productive members of the society.

Perhaps one of the service, well appreciated by the patients is the societies ambassadors, located in the major government and charitable hospitals viz. Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, TB Hospital and Sri Guru Ramdass Hospitals and Mata Kaulan Ji Mission Hospital. These people help the patients navigate through the medical care system, help them with admission process, get them connected with the right doctor and then if required provide financial aid.

The Mobile Dispensary Van goes to two villages twice a weak for six months to provide medical care for those who cannot travel to the city hospitals after words two different villages are selected. The Van is fully equipped with a laboratory where medicine can be prescribed after proper medical tests are completed.

The Society this year helped over 1,50,000 patients. However, the need of the poor and destitute for medical care is much more than what the Society can provide today. There is no other Not-for-profit institution which is doing this work. The society spends 83% of the donations it receives on the patient care and only 17 % is spent on administration (as detailed in annual report). Office bearers including Chairman & President work without any remuneration.

The Society depends entirely on the generosity of its members and the general public for its donation. We therefore request you to please disseminate the achievement of the society, help us enrol new members and raise additional donations. Yours help in the past is very much appreciated.
